Now in its tenth year of business Technical Diving International is the largest Tech Agency in the world with over 10000 active Instructors. From it's humble beginning, TDI has now expanded to have regional offices in 45 countries worldwide. The 1st Red Sea Underwater Video Championship
Hurghada 5/9 – 12/9/2009
Mission Statement
Partaking documentaries, telling about the interaction between humans and the underwater world, involving issues related to environment, development and study of underwater and par aquatic space, as well as videos broaching the contribution to the protection of flora and fauna of the Red Sea .

Videos to take part in the competition:
1. Films made before the festival.
- A - unlimited length. Professional production, TV and broadcast quality.
- B - a short video clip. Maximum duration 10'. Amateur production.

Films should be accompanied by a synopsis, and if possible by a photo of the author.

2. Films captured during the festival

The participants are allowed to use up to 25% ready video clips shot before the festival

Movies are provided in one of the following formats: DVD, mini DV, DVCAM, HD, HDV, Betacam SP, PAL.

We are introducing educational qualification for parties,

2) Minimum age 18 Years old regardless whether a diver or an assistant.




Schedule
September 5, 2009 - Arrival/transfer to the boats (Marsa galeb marina) – Registration, organizational matters. Introducing the festival program. Opening Ceremony. Boats assignment, etc.
September 6,2009 -1st day of diving – check dive and Master class,
September 7, 2009 – 2nd day of diving. Evening welcome party on Brothers Island and master class of night video shooting
September 8, 2009 -3rd day of diving.
September 9- 4th day of the competition – Evening welcome party–master class.
September 10 -5th day of the Festival -2 last dives and handing over the ready material till 22pm .
The courier with jury leaves back to Hurghada and watches all the films of the participants.
September 11, 2009 – jury are watching films and choosing the winners, boats arrive to Hurghada new Marina .
Official Awards Ceremony at Marina with representatives of the Governorate, different Diving and Water sport associations. Showing prize-winning films on a big screen at new Marina. Banquet – open buffet. Live music program.

September 12, 2009 Departure to the airport.

The winners in the categories receive cash prizes in accordance with the decision of the organizing committee.
Movies that do not have competitive bidding, are involved in the uncompetitive show.

4. Championship Rules and Regulations:
All videographers are allowed to participate in the championship.
Accommodation FB on liveaboards, double room

The participants will be met in Marsa Galeb marina on the first day (05/9/2009) for the opening ceremony.
Each participant will have 12-15 dives within the 5 days of the championship. The first dive will be after embarkation from marina at the second day of the contest and on the first day of diving.
The following 4 days are considered contest.

The Organizing Committee of the Championship will arrange boats, tanks and weights for the participants. Every diver or assistant should arrange his personal diving equipment, putting in consideration the international diving rules and conditions set by the championship Organizing Committee

All the participants should meet the following prerequisites:

1) Diving Qualification - Diver Two Stars / Equivalent or higher.
2) Minimum age 18 Years old regardless whether a diver or an assistant.

-It is not necessary to fill in the Liability Release before each dive.

-Each participant has the right to end the contest before the official end date, if he/she felt what he/she achieved was enough during his participation time.

-The participants must not touch the corals and there will be one only warning for each participant if he has done so. The second time this mistake occurs, the participant will be dismissed from the championship.

The official language of the Championship is English.

All the video materials for the contest are accepted before the 5th of August 2009
The sent in films are permitted to take part in the contest after the pre-watching by the selection board. The authors of the movies are informed about the decision by an e-mail. The judgment of the board is final. The video materials are not returned.
The movies of the contestants are judged by the jury, consisting of the professional directors, producers and operators having a vast experience in diving. The decision of the jury is final. The participants of the Championship are to agree with the non-commercial usage of the materials sent to the Underwater Video contest. The name of the author will be mentioned during each demonstration of the video material. Organizing Committee is not claiming to the copyrights. Organizing Committee commits not to use the materials, sent prior or shot during the contest for the commercial purposes. Organizing Committee guarantees that in case of inquiries to use the contest materials for commercial purposes, the interested party is to be referred to the author of the material.

To all the participants – please pay your attention that all the materials sent to the festival are packed in a due way and there are no extra shipping charges involved!

Championship participants undertake to guarantee that their materials are free from the third parties claims.
The participants are to pay the cost of the liveaboard by themselves. The price depends on the type of the yacht – 700-900 Euro +100 Euro Marina Park Fees.

- B - a short video clip. Maximum duration 10'. Amateur production. 6000 Euro Prize

The clips shop during the Championship period up to 7 minutes duration. 6000 euro prize.
